New Oriental Education & Technology Group Q1 Earnings Advance 15%

(RTTNews) - New Oriental Education & Technology Group (EDU) reported earnings for its first quarter that climbed compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $132.29 million, or $0.84 per share. This was higher than $115.13 million, or $0.73 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.74 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 16.4% to $458.49 million. This was up from $393.98 million last year.
