NEC Solutions America Delivers TouchPass Secure Single Sign-On to Atlantic Health System New Jersey Health Care Provider Deploys Proven, Affordable Solution Across Three Facilities in 10,000-Seat Deal
NEC Solutions (America) Inc., a premier provider of integrated solutions for the Connected Enterprise in North America, today announced the deployment of its TouchPass(R) Secure Single Sign-On solution at Atlantic Health System, one of New Jersey's largest nonprofit health care providers. Atlantic Health System will deploy TouchPass with 10,000 user licenses across its three health facilities in northern New Jersey.
NEC Solutions America's TouchPass Secure Single Sign-On (SSO) uses biometric finger-imaging to identify individual users accurately to authorize access to computers, networks and applications using only a fingerprint. It is one in a suite of products offered by NEC Solutions America's Health Care Solutions Division designed to provide hospital systems and health care payers with tools, solutions and services to improve security, safety and communication. The ultimate goal of NEC's health care offerings is to measurably improve patient safety, quality of care and reduce administrative costs, all of which are objectives shared by Atlantic Health System.
"Atlantic Health System selected NEC's TouchPass as its single sign-on product because NEC offered us a proven, affordable solution in managing, authorizing, and auditing access to our systems and information," said Linda Reed, vice president and chief information officer, Atlantic Health System. "TouchPass allows us to consolidate multiple login and password requirements for our staff and physicians, and provides a fast, simple and uniform method for them to gain controlled access to our systems."
Atlantic Health System is also able to realize the benefit of regulation compliance with their TouchPass installation.
"A key challenge for Atlantic Health, as in many health care organizations, is regulation compliance," said Bill Daniels, manager, Total Solutions Center, Atlantic Health System. "NEC's TouchPass is an integral component of our strategy to achieve full compliance, in particular with HIPAA regulations. In working with a vendor of NEC's stature, we were assured of not just simplicity, security, and return on investment, but also with compliance, which was fundamental to our choice of technology provider."
"Atlantic Health System's ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation has made it a health care leader in the region, and NEC is proud to be a part of that legacy," said Lauryn Jones, general manager, Health Care Solutions Division, NEC Solutions America. "To comply with HIPAA data security standards, hospitals must meet five main criteria: confidentiality, integrity, authentication, non-repudiation and authorization. NEC's TouchPass allows hospitals to comply with these standards simply and securely."
NEC Solutions America's solutions suite is designed for a health care industry marked by ever-increasing administrative costs and decreasing clinical resources. To that end, NEC's TouchPass was unveiled last month, after successful trials in health care environments in fall 2004.
Earlier this month, NEC Solutions America debuted its Vocera(R) Communications System, a wearable instant communication device that measurably improves productivity and teamwork throughout hospital systems and health care payer organizations by enabling instant staff-to-staff communications and interaction, and state-of-the-art translation services in 150 languages via medically-trained translators.
