NEC's Retail Mobile Solutions offering announced today includesthe Panel-i (TM) touch-screen mobile terminal, retail applicationsdevelopment, mobile platform and system integration services. The newsolution allows retailers to track inventory and analyze sales datawhile empowering store managers to increase sales and reducewrite-offs by extending back office functionality wirelessly to thestorefront.

Inventory, sales, andmerchandising data normally centralized at the headquarters or limitedto access in the back office will be wirelessly extended to each storeassociate on the sales floor. Store managers and staff can now accesscritical information and historical trends, enabling them to makebusiness decisions for merchandizing and product replenishment basedon their knowledge of customer demand, local events, weather, andother factors native to each location.

NEC's Panel-i, a Microsoft(R) Windows(R) CE touch-screen mobileterminal, is designed to run graphical, easy-to-use wirelessmerchandising applications. These browser-based applications securelyinterface with back office systems, providing wireless access toexisting data. With the Panel-i, store managers and staff have easyaccess to sales data from anywhere in the store in order to makemerchandizing, ordering, receiving, and inventory managementdecisions. Activities no longer need to be divided between the salesfloor and the back office.
