Louisville Tells Papa John: You're Name Is Dirt

(RTTNews) - Papa John's Founder and Chairman John Schnatter has resigned from the University of Louisville board of trustees. The decision to resign from the board came hours after the company confirmed that Schnatter had used a racial slur on a company conference call in May.

Papa John's confirmed on Wednesday that Schnatter had resigned from the company's board after he admitted of using the N-word during a conference call with a marketing firm in May 2018.

Meanwhile, Mike Moore, the mayor of Schnatter's hometown of Jeffersonville, Indiana, has also announced that a fieldhouse named after Schnatter will no longer bear his name.

"The city of Jeffersonville represents a very diverse community," Mayor Moore said Wednesday, as reported by the Louisville Courier Journal. "It was a tough decision, but I believe it was the right decision."

The fieldhouse, which since 2017 was known as the John H. Schnatter-Nachand Fieldhouse, will use its original name: Nachand Fieldhouse. Schnatter's name was added to the building after he pledged $800,000 for its renovations.
