(RTTNews) - Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (KKD) Monday said third-quarter net income was $6.8 million, or $0.09 per share, compared to $5.0 million or $0.07 per share in the same period last year.

Adjusted net income for the quarter was $11.2 million or $0.16 per share, up from $8.3 million or $0.12 per share in the prior year quarter. On average, five analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.15 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues increased 6.7 percent to $114.23 million from $107.09 million last year, while four analysts expected revenues of $114.62 million.

Looking ahead to the fiscal 2014, the company now expects adjusted earnings in the range of $0.60 to $0.63 per share. Analysts currently expect full-year earnings of $0.63 per share.

Earlier, the company expected adjusted earnings to be in the range of $0.59 to $0.63 per share.
