Horace Mann Educators Q4 Profit Rises

(RTTNews) - Horace Mann Educators Corp. (HMN) reported fourth-quarter net income of $34.3 million or $0.81 per share, compared to $31.9 million or $0.77 per share, last year.

Operating income for the latest fourth quarter was $33.4 million or $0.79 per share, up from $27.9 million or $0.67 per share in the comparable quarter last year. On average, three analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.55 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues rose to $259.10 million, from $255.40 million, a year ago.

The company projects full-year 2014 operating income per share to between $2.05 and $2.25. Analysts expect the company to report fiscal year profit per share of $2.22.
