Horace Mann Educators Q1 Profit Rises

(RTTNews) - Horace Mann Educators Corp. (HMN) reported first-quarter net income of $28.4 million or $0.67 per share, compared to $27.0 million or $0.66 per share, last year.

Operating income for the latest first quarter was $27.3 million or $0.65 per share, up from $22.6 million or $0.55 per share in the comparable quarter last year. On average, three analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.48 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues rose to $261.2 million, from $254.6 million, a year ago.
