Horace Mann Educators Q1 Profit Retreats 16%

(RTTNews) - Horace Mann Educators (HMN) released earnings for first quarter that decreased compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line dropped to $25.6 million, or $0.62 per share. This was lower than $30.3 million, or $0.72 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.57 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 0.4% to $271.3 million. This was up from $270.1 million last year.
