Horace Mann Educators Announces 40% Decline In Q1 Bottom Line

(RTTNews) - Horace Mann Educators (HMN) reported a profit for first quarter that lost ground from last year.

The company said its bottom line dropped to $15.4 million, or $0.37 per share. This was down from $25.6 million, or $0.62 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.55 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 5.9% to $287.3 million. This was up from $271.3 million last year.
