Hitachi Consulting Corporation Aerospace and Defense Managing Vice President Named to AVIATION WEEK Workforce Survey Advisory Board for Second Year
For the second year in a row, Hitachi Consulting Corporation Aerospace and Defense (A&D) Practice Managing Vice President Lee Palmer has been named to the AVIATION WEEK Workforce Advisory Board which oversees the magazine’s annual report which focuses on workforce issues and trends in the A&D industry. Hitachi Consulting also is the exclusive sponsor of this year’s workforce survey.
The 2010 AVIATION WEEK Workforce survey report, to be released in the fall, serves as a single source of reliable data for the A&D industry providing analysis of current workforce issues, trends and opportunities in the areas of recruitment, retention, retirement, compensation, diversity, performance, professional development, and career opportunities. The report provides statistics and, through its Advisory Board, offers timely suggestions to A&D companies, such as establishing processes for workforce transformation Best Practices.
Palmer will serve with representatives of the A&D industry and its associations, including the Aerospace Industries Association, NASA, Goodrich, The Boeing Co, Lockheed Martin, the National Defense Industries Association, and others.
Hitachi Consulting once again joined forces to sponsor the survey with AVIATION WEEK following the success of last year’s report in which ideas for workforce solutions for A&D companies were presented. Palmer, who has been a vice president with Hitachi Consulting since its inception in 2000, has more than 19 years’ experience in business strategy and IT consulting primarily assisting companies resolve issues in revenue management, supply chain management, organizational transformation, systems integration, operations and performance improvement, ERP deployments, and strategic planning and execution.
"It’s an honor to return as a member of the Advisory Board for this prestigious AVIATION WEEK survey,” Palmer said. "The entire industry values these results and I’m encouraged that Hitachi Consulting will be able to share its experience and knowledge on workforce issues with the premier organizations, top executives, and leading companies in the aerospace and defense industry.”
"According to our 2009 Workforce Study, the A&D workforce was reduced by approximately 10 percent in 2009,” said Tom Henricks, president of AVIATION WEEK. ”This is a significant cut, but not as drastic as the layoffs in the mid-‘90s. Industry professionals benefit greatly from the intelligence and trend analysis available in our Workforce Studies, and they turn to us to provide valuable knowledge and insight. We are pleased that Lee Palmer and Hitachi Consulting will work with us again on this 14th annual study.”
