Health Care Practitioners Across Nine Disciplines Surveyed

NEW YORK, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the health care division of Bernard Hodes Group, a leading provider of integrated talent solutions, and ADVANCE Newsmagazines, a leading healthcare publisher, announce the release of their co-branded "Talking to Talent" survey results. The results of the first- ever surveys of eight allied health disciplines (a total of 1,721 respondents) and a separate survey of 1,045 RNs, LPNs and Nurse Practitioners are available online at http://www.hodes.com/healthcarematters .

"This research on allied health practitioners is groundbreaking and provides valuable insights for health care recruiters in attracting and retaining top talent in key allied health professional groups. The RN survey results provide a fresh view of the profession as viewed by the nurses themselves. Our results contain tremendous implications for our health care clients as they strategize to develop long-term recruitment and retention plans to keep their talent pipeline filled," said Karen Hart, RN, BSN, senior vice president health care division, Bernard Hodes Group.

The allied health care practitioners surveyed include the following areas: * Health Information * Imaging and Radiation Therapy * Medical Technology * Occupational Therapy * Physician Assistants * Physical Therapy * Respiratory Therapy * Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology

"Once again Bernard Hodes Group is breaking new ground by conducting this comprehensive survey across a variety of allied health professions in collaboration with ADVANCE Newsmagazines. Physicians and nurses have always been the 'high profile' providers of healthcare, but allied health represents a much higher percentage of the healthcare workforce," said Lynn Brooks, Vice President Human Resources, St. Patrick's Hospital, Missoula, MT and Member, ASHHRA Workforce Development Taskforce.

The surveys sought to learn more about the perceptions and attitudes of practitioners in the following areas:

* Employment motivators and de-motivators * Job-seeking habits * Media preferences for learning about employment opportunities * Insights about issues and conditions contributing to dissatisfaction and turnover

"The 2005 Hodes/ADVANCE Survey of Nurses provides insightful data and strategies for recruiting and retaining RNs, LPNs/LVNs, and nurse practitioners. The report provides valuable tools for improving recruitment and retention programs and practices," said Dennis Sherrod, EdD, RN, Professor and Forsyth Medical Center Endowed Chair of Recruitment & Retention, Winston- Salem State University.
