Harmonic’s Rhozet Video Transcoding to Be Integrated by Aspera for High Performance File Transfer Environment

Harmonic Inc. (NASDAQ:HLIT) today announced that its Rhozet™ Carbon Coder universal media transcoding solution will be integrated into the Aspera high-performance file transfer environment. Aspera’s fasp^TM transport technology enables the quick and efficient movement of large files over wide area networks (WAN), delivering maximum transmission speed regardless of file size, transfer distance or network conditions. The integration of Rhozet into Aspera workflows allows users to further optimize delivery by specifying media transformations that would be performed at either end of the transport pipeline.

As an example, files coming from the editorial process could be automatically transcoded into a variety of formats such as broadcast, web and mobile, and then delivered to their ultimate destinations with maximum bandwidth utilization. Each delivery location receives only the media type that they need within predictable timeframes, no bandwidth is wasted sending unnecessary data, and Aspera’s adaptive transfer rate control ensures other network traffic is protected. Thus, transformation and delivery become integrated processes in the larger enterprise workflow.
