Gannett Announces Online Executive Appointments

    MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 2005--Two executive appointments were announced today in the Newspaper Division of Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE:GCI).
    Daniel J. Donaghy was named vice president/online sales and marketing, and Peter Lundquist becomes vice president/online content and operations.
    Donaghy joined Gannett in 2003 as director/online classified sales. Prior to that, he was Classified Ventures' senior vice president, corporate development. Donaghy began his newspaper career at The New York Times in 1980, where he served in a variety of management positions including senior vice president, sales and marketing at The New York Times Electronic Media Company. Donaghy is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, and has a master's degree from Stanford University.

    Lundquist came to Gannett in 1996 as online manager at The Des Moines Register, where he started DesMoinesRegister.com. He later became online director at The Register before moving to the Newspaper Division corporate staff in 1999 as director/online content. He began his newspaper career as a reporter for the Lawrence (Kan.) Journal-World. He became Web editor there in 1995 and helped start LJWorld.com, Lawrence.com and JHawks.com (now KUSports.com), among the first 100 newspaper sites on the Web. Lundquist has a degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and was a Pulliam Journalism Fellow.
