FOX News Names Two Vice Presidents in Washington Bureau
Brian Wilson has been appointed Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief and Bruce Becker was promoted to the newly created position of Vice President, Business News in Washington for the proposed business channel, announced Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO, FOX News. In making the announcement, Ailes said, "Brian Wilson is a strong leader who will continue to implement the standard of excellence practiced by the best political team in Washington. Bruce Becker has done a remarkable job as deputy and interim bureau chief but his extensive experience and insight in Washington is now integral to our development of the proposed business channel.” Wilson added, "After nine years in the correspondent ranks, I look forward to this new adventure leading Washington’s best newsroom.” Becker commented, "It's a thrill for me to know that I will get another chance to lead a start-up operation. I'm looking forward to delivering the best business news programming on television." Prior to being named bureau chief, Wilson anchored Fox News Channel’s (FNC) Weekend Live and served as a congressional correspondent. He will continue to make appearances on the network. Throughout his tenure at FNC, he has played an integral role in the coverage of numerous news stories and events for the network, including the 2005 retirement of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the 2002 Washington area sniper attacks and September 11th attacks on the Pentagon. Becker served as interim bureau chief in Washington before being named to his newly created position. He has been with FNC since its inception in 1996, and oversaw the network’s Washington editorial newsgathering operation, where he managed several area based breaking news events as the deputy bureau chief. Before joining FNC, Becker was the executive producer for FOX’s affiliate news operation and also had stints at WTTG-TV (FOX) and WETA-TV (PBS). Most recently he received a Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business with a concentration in entrepreneurial management. FOX News Channel (FNC) is a 24-hour general news service covering breaking news as well as political, business and entertainment news. For nearly five years, FNC has been the most watched cable news channel in the nation and currently presents 8 out of the top 10 programs in cable news. Owned by News Corp., FNC is available in more than 85 million homes.
