Flach Promoted at Proffitt's/McRae's

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 2005--Retailer Saks Incorporated (NYSE:SKS) (the "Company") today announced that Terry J. Flach has been promoted to Senior Vice President/General Merchandise Manager of Home, Accessories, and Intimate Apparel for the Proffitt's/McRae's group of stores. Flach will report to Toni Browning, President and Chief Executive Officer of Proffitt's/McRae's.
    Terry Flach joined Proffitt's/McRae's in March 2003 as Vice President/General Merchandise Manager of Home. Between 2000 and 2002, Flach held the post of Vice President/Divisional Merchandise Manager for Tabletop, Luggage, and Smallwares for Filene's, a division of May Company, and was Vice President of Housewares, Luggage, and Furniture for Federated Department Stores in 1999 and 2000. Prior to that, he held various merchandising posts with Foley's, Robinson's, and Sibley's, all divisions of May Company, as well as Dillard's.

There are 26 Proffitt's stores and 27 McRae's stores throughout the Southeast.
