Facebook Takes On Yelp With Friend Recommend Feature

(RTTNews) - In order to make Facebook more user-friendly, the social media giant introduced a few attractive new features. Recommendation tool, call-to-action buttons, and new section pages are expected to attract more users in a world where there are more mobiles than human beings.

The company said the recommendation tool will help discover new places, events, and things-to-do in a city. It would be available in U.S. from today. You can get suggestions from your trustworthy friends about various services too. The recommendations will be appearing in news feeds and will be added to a map for easy browsing. When you are in search of a restaurant or a night club, you can initiate a query and there will be several suggestions from your friends.

The feature might take on crowd-sourced reviews about local businesses in Yelp or Foursquare, it is observed.

Call-to-action facilitates business to attract more customers. Businesses can add the new call to action buttons to their pages and thus clients can schedule, order or buy seamlessly on the page. According to Facebook, a few taps would be enough for ordering. With this button, one can review the menu, make their selection, and order directly.

The company said customers can accept orders with delivery.com or slice and can book appointments with HomeAdvisor, MyTimes, and other services. Ticketmaster and Eventbrite will help sell tickets, while Fandango can be used for knowing show schedules and sell tickets.

Facebook has also introduced Get Quote, Request Time and Shop Now call-to-action buttons, etc. with the latest update.

Earlier on Tuesday, in view of the Presidential election in U.S., Facebook rolled out endorsement tab on political figure's Facebook pages. One can endorse a candidate for political office only when the category of their page is Political, Political Candidate or Government Official.
