Dish, Fox News In Content Carriage Agreement
(RTTNews) - Dish Network (DISH) and Fox News Network, a part of 21st Century Fox Inc (FOXA, FOX), on Thursday reached a multi-year agreement for carriage of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. As a result, these channels are now available to Dish customers with qualifying programming packages. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Tim Carry, Fox News and Fox Business executive vice president of distribution, and Warren Schlichting, Dish senior vice president of programming, jointly stated, "We thank the viewers of FOX News and FOX Business and DISH customers for their patience throughout this process."
In December, 21st Century Fox blocked Dish customer access to Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, as the media conglomerate introduced other channels into negotiations despite those channels not being included in the contract up for renewal.
Dish said that Fox was demanding too much to carry the channel while the latter said it was only asking for what other providers are paying.
