British Search Engine Launches Algorithm for Family Friendly Search

The first search engine to bring out complete family friendly results, blocking explicit images, websites and content from search results.  

The internet is now seen as an essential part of everyday life with children becoming familiar with computers and how to search the internet at an increasingly early age. This poses many risks, including the accessibility of inappropriate content and websites, a suitable solution to limit this access has yet to be made available mainstream; until now.

British search engine Ortigra.com have pioneered and implemented a new advanced algorithm this week. The algorithm works through scanning content hosted on web pages and placing websites in categories. Websites that are deemed unsuitable for minors are then blocked from the search results.

Minors coming across adult material online has been a major concern for many individuals. This leading to the British Prime Minister  to alert search engines to do more in tackling the issue of displaying search results which are deemed unsuitable for children but also against the law.

A search engine is a directory, if a user cannot find an address that hosts adult material then they will not be able to view material within a website. Ortigra have also launched their browser Titanium, which allows users to block access to websites based on the categories that the search algorithm has identified. The browser also allows for users to block websites based on content the user has defined.  

The new Ortigra algorithm and browser is expected to be well received not only in households but also across educational establishments and businesses.
