Before and After Views of Hurricane Irma Damage Now Available From NICB
DES PLAINES, Ill., Sept. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Insurance Crime Bureau's (NICB) Geospatial Intelligence Center has been flying over much of Florida since Hurricane Irma hit. The resulting high resolution imagery, incorporated into a mapping system, is now being posted for the public to view at Hurricane Irma Imagery
By typing in an address, the aerials of the property will appear with a slider that moves to show the before and after views. NICB began with the hard hit Florida Keys and has flown most of the badly damaged areas, including Miami, Southwest Florida and the Tampa Bay area. Images are being added as soon as they are processed and mapped.
The NICB's Geospatial Intelligence Center has previously mapped the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Harvey and those views are also available at www.nicb.org
The unprecedented high-resolution imagery and mapping system is made possible through NICB's partnership with partners, such as Vexcel Imaging, the premier aerial imaging company worldwide, and Esri, the global provider of GIS mapping and spatial analytics software. Eventually, the plan would be to do imaging on the ground and in the air in some 100 markets on a regular basis, and being able to respond immediately on a 24/7 basis when a catastrophe strikes to provide comparisons that will assist in damage assessment for insurance company members and for first responders, emergency personnel and law enforcement.
Anyone with information concerning insurance fraud or vehicle theft can report it anonymously by calling toll-free 800-TEL-NICB (800-835-6422), texting keyword "fraud" to TIP411 (847411) or submitting a form on our website. Or, download the NICB Fraud Tips app on your iPhone or Android device.
