Bayer Board To Discuss Monsanto Bid In Sept. 14 Meeting: Report

(RTTNews) - Bayer AG's (BAYZF.PK, BAYRY.PK, BYR.L) supervisory board will discuss about the status of negotiations to buy Monsanto Co. (MON) and the further steps to be taken in a meeting on September 14, German daily Rheinische Post reported Monday, citing company sources.

The Board would also discuss about a possible higher offer and the possibility of a hostile takeover.

The company will hold an investor and analyst meeting in Cologne on September 20.

Bayer had submitted an initial offer for Monsanto on May 23 and offered $122 per Monsanto share. Monsanto in July had rejected a sweetened $64 billion takeover offer from Bayer, stating it as financially inadequate and insufficient to ensure deal certainty. Reuters reported last month that Monsanto had given Bayer limited access to its books.
