AXIS Capital Holdings Q1 Profit Declines

(RTTNews) - AXIS Capital Holdings Limited (AXS) reported first-quarter net income available to shareholders of $137 million, or $1.24 per share, compared to $303 million, or $2.55 per share, prior year.

Operating income for the latest first quarter was $137 million, or $1.24 per share, down from $227 million or $1.92 per share in the comparable quarter last year. On average, 17 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $1.34 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues rose to $1.04 billion, from $1.03 million, last year. Analysts expected revenues of $1.65 billion.
