Atwood Profit Rises

(RTTNews) - Atwood Oceanics Inc (ATW), an offshore drilling contractor, on Wednesday reported second-quarter net earnings of $122.7 million or $1.89 per share compared with $73.3 million or $1.13 per share last year.

Results for the quarter included a loss of $0.08 per share for the pending sale of the Atwood Hunter for recycling.

Revenues for the quarter were $350.4 million compared with $273.1 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $1.67 per share on revenues of $342.5 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Shares of the company were gaining $0.85 or 2.80% at $31.28 in after-hours trade on the NYSE.
