Assurant Q2 Profit Down - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Assurant Inc. (AIZ) Wednesday reported second-quarter profit of $133.5 million or $1.70 per share, down from $169.2 million or $1.94 per share in the same period last year.

Operating income for the quarter was $120.0 million or $1.53 per share. On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.45 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues improved to $2.24 billion, up from $2.13 billion last year. Analysts expected revenues of $2.11 billion.

Net-earned premiums, fees and other income amounted to $2.0 billion, compared to $1.9 billion last year. Net-nvestment income decreased to $163.9 million from $199.3 million last year.
