Are Q-Tips About To Be Replaced By The Z Swab©?

GIG HARBOR, Wash., May 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- A bold new product launched on Kickstarter is about to do battle against the almost 100-year old cotton swab.

A recent article in the Journal of Pediatrics claims that Q-Tips send dozens of kids to the emergency room every day.  According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, "263,338 children were seen at US emergency departments between 1990-2010."

This is because the fundamental design flaw of the cotton swab has never been corrected. According to Hearing Health Matters, the diameter of adult ear canal ranges from .35" - .40." The Q-Tip is a slender .25" which easily slides inside an average ear canal. The length of the average ear canal ranges from .77" – 1.01." A typical swab is 3.25" long, which is about 3 times longer than it should be!

The new patent-pending design of the Z Swab provides for a cotton bud that exceeds the diameter of the ear canal, and reaches only .5", making it all but impossible to damage the eardrum.

"The old fashioned cotton swab, like the cigarette, is one of the few products that can lead to injury if used as intended," said Joe Feldman, inventor of the Z Swab. "You've heard the old adage, 'Never put anything sharper than your elbow into your ear?' Well, the Z Swab is not even elbow-sharp."

Upon meeting the Kickstarter funding goal, Z Swabs will be manufactured in the United States and will be available at traditional and online retailers everywhere by early 2018. The Kickstarter campaign can be found at:
