Apple Granted Patent For Smart Stylus

(RTTNews) - The United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted tech giant Apple Inc. (AAPL) a new patent for a stylus which allows users to draw and write on any surface and display it on a digital device.

Apple has credited Aleksandar Pance as the inventor of the "communicating stylus."

According to the patent, the "communication stylus" can write on any type of surface and subsequently can display the written images or text on digital device. The stylus uses accelerometers and other sensors to track writings and uses wireless communication hardware to transfer data to a digital device. It also has onboard storage to store data.

The 3D motion sensors on the stylus enables it to track writings accurately and can be used on any surface like paper, board, table, or even in air.

Although, the patent did not explain how the stylus would connect with a digital device, it noted that "the computing device may be located anywhere, as long as it is able to communicate with the stylus, and be able to display the written text or images."

The stylus could be used with different nibs or pen heads to write on different materials, the patent reveals.

A stylus like this would be warmly welcomed by Apple fanboys if it's launched along with the widely anticipated iPad Pro, a larger tablet from Apple's stable for professional use that will compete with Microsoft's Surface Pro 3.
