(ACO) reported third-quarter net loss attributable to AMCOL shareholders of $19.8 million, or $0.61 per share, compared with a profit of $19.0 million, or $0.59 per share, in the previous year. According to the company, $0.61 of loss per share attributable to shareholders included $1.21 per share of non-cash impairment charges from its South African chromite and health and beauty operations. Excluding these impairments, the firm realized $0.60 of earnings per share, comparable to the $0.59 per share earned in the prior-year quarter.
