Alltel to Provide Wireless Service to Assist Hurricane Katrina Victims
Alltel will offer wireless service or credits for new and existingcustomers who meet eligibility requirements established by the FederalCommunications Commission.
"Hurricane Katrina devastated Gulf Coast communities where Alltelhas deep roots, so we are very pleased to take part in this effort tohelp the victims," Harry Bruns, Alltel's president of wirelessservices. "The Federal Communications Commission is to be commendedfor adapting the existing Lifeline program so that it can be animportant part of the recovery effort."
To qualify for assistance, customers must be approved or eligiblefor disaster housing assistance from the Federal Emergency ManagementAgency. Only one member of each FEMA-qualified household will beeligible for Lifeline assistance.
