Netflix Inc. (NFLX) surged 17 percent to $391.78 after the company reported fourth quarter earnings that improved from the year-ago quarter and came in above analysts' expectation. Domestic net additions in the quarter were 14 percent higher than prior year, while International net additions were down slightly from the prior year period. The company forecast first quarter Domestic net additions to exceed the prior year by about 11 percent to 2.25 million subscribers.

eBay Inc. (EBAY) rose 5 percent to $57.12. The company's fourth quarter profit improved from the year-ago quarter and its adjusted earnings per share topped Wall Street view. Net revenue for the quarter rose 13 percent, but marginally missed the consensus estimate. The company also guided first quarter results below Street view. eBay also said that it has received a notice from Carl Icahn indicating that he has nominated two of his employees to board and submitted a non-binding proposal for a spin-off of its PayPal business into a separate company.

F5 Networks, Inc. (FFIV) improved over 11 percent to $108.81. The company's first quarter results topped analysts' expectations. The company also forecast second quarter results above the consensus estimate. The company also announced that its board had authorized an additional $500 million for its common stock share repurchase program.
