AFLAC Inc Q2 Income Climbs 9%

(RTTNews) - AFLAC Inc (AFL) released earnings for its second quarter that advanced compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line advanced to $707 million, or $1.71 per share. This was higher than $651 million, or $1.50 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.68 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 2.8% to $5.44 billion. This was up from $5.29 billion last year.
