AFLAC Inc Bottom Line Rises 7% In Q1

(RTTNews) - AFLAC Inc (AFL) revealed earnings for its first quarter that climbed compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line rose to $726 million, or $1.73 per share. This was higher than $678 million, or $1.54 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.63 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 4.2% to $5.45 billion. This was up from $5.23 billion last year.
