ADIC and ICF Sign Technology Reseller Agreement: New Digital Video Arc
ADIC and ICF Sign Technology Reseller Agreement: New Digital Video Archive Debuts at NAB New ICF Solution Makes Deep Broadcast Archives Faster to Access, Easier to Manage and Cheaper to Own
Interactive Content Factory (ICF), a developer of software products for the media industry, announced today the signing of a global value-added reseller agreement with ADIC (Advanced Digital Information Corporation, NASDAQ: ADIC), leader in Intelligent Storage solutions for the open systems market. Under terms of the agreement, ICF will integrate ADIC's StorNext management software technology within ICF Media Platform Archive solution, a broadcast video archive solution which ICF is presenting to broadcasters and service providers at this year's National Association of Broadcasters' show in Las Vegas, April 18 through 21.
ICF Media Platform Archive is an add-on to ICF's existing media asset management solution, which has been deployed with ADIC's StorNext technology in several large-scale customer installations, including ones for MPS Broadband, TWI, British Telecom (BT) and Telecom Italia.
"ICF and ADIC have been working together on this project since early 2004," said Max Haot, ICF General Manager "and we have proven the technology in a wide variety of extremely challenging environments. That success led us to work with ADIC to develop our new archive solution"
The new solution will allow broadcasters and users in other content-driven industries to save time and money by allowing them to remotely search, browse and select video segments for transcoding and delivery using partial restore technology.
For example, if a user has selected a five-minute clip of a two-hour movie by viewing the Windows Media proxy, the partial restore solution selectively retrieves only those five minutes of high-resolution MPEG2 video from the digital tape archive. Without partial restore the user would have to wait for whole movie to be retrieved from storage, which would take up to 40 minutes and use additional storage resources. With ICF Media Platform Archive partial restore, users search a low resolution proxy, and with a single click the selected video content can be restored from the archive, transcoded and delivered to external editing systems, playout servers or external third parties.
Paul Szemerenyi, global account manager for ADIC said, "We are pleased to working with ICF as it offers a badly needed new solution by combining the strengths of our two companies' technologies. ICF understands the global broadcast market and has proven it can deliver and support the kinds of truly innovative solutions that the industry needs to take full advantage of digital storage and content delivery."
Max Haot, ICF General Manager said, "When we initially reviewed the market for a file system vendor to work with, ADIC was the obvious choice due to the strengths of its StorNext software which is robust, productised and feature-rich. The combination of ICF's expertise in video formats with ADIC's products and leadership in storage management enables us to deliver a feature such as partial video restore to the broadcast marketplace within a short timeframe."
ICF's Media Platform is a digital asset management solution that covers the breadth of asset management functions from ingest, logging, proxy editing, integrated craft editing, workflow, transcoding and delivery to multiple platforms.
This week ICF is launching the release of ICF Media Platform v2.1, which will be demonstrated at the ICF stand (number SL2461)at NAB. ICF Media Platform V2.1 includes the first version of the Archive Module including integration with ADIC StorNext Storage Manager.
The Media Platform Archive with its partial restore feature will be available globally from ICF in August 2005.
