Adelphia Executive and Former SCTE Chairman Wins C-COR'S 2005 Star of Integrity Award Keith Hayes Recognized for Leadership in Transitioning Cable Networks to Advanced On Demand Services
C-COR Incorporated (Nasdaq:CCBL) has awarded the Company's 2005 Star of Integrity Award to Keith R. Hayes, Vice President, HFC Technical Operations and Engineering for Adelphia Communications. The award, which recognizes the accomplishments of members of the SCTE (Society of Cable and Telecommunications Engineers) in achieving network integrity for advanced applications over cable, will be presented to Mr. Hayes by C-COR's Chairman and CEO, David Woodle, at the January 2005 SCTE Conference on Emerging Technologies in Huntington Beach, California.
Mr. Hayes has been instrumental in the rapid rebuild and upgrade of Adelphia networks for deployment of advanced services such as high-speed data, video-on-demand, and high definition TV. Drawing upon his 22 years-plus technical and management experience in broadband engineering and operations, Mr. Hayes worked closely with Adelphia's regional teams to successfully upgrade more than 20 percent of the MSO's plant in less than two years. In 2004, Mr. Hayes again applied his hands-on leadership skills with the regional teams in an operational improvement initiative focused on enhancing the experience of Adelphia's customers. The result of this subscriber-centric effort has been a reduction of more than 20,000 truck rolls per month, reflecting an increase in service reliability and improved quality of service.
Mr. Hayes' success in driving the transition of a substantial segment of cable networks to next-generation technologies and services is matched by his dedication to the professional development of his fellow engineers through his activities with the SCTE. For two terms, he served as Chairman of the 14,000-member SCTE, and under his watch the Society significantly expanded both its training programs and industry standards activities, key areas in ensuring the success of the new multi-service, on demand, all digital cable networks. In recognition of his contributions to the organization, Mr. Hayes received the prestigious SCTE Member of the Year Award in 1998 and Personal Achievement Award in 2000. He is also one of only 80 currently certified SCTE Broadband Communications Engineers (BCE).
Commenting on the award, David Woodle, Chairman and CEO of C-COR, stated, "Keith Hayes represents the best qualities of our industry. He is actively devoted to the success of cable; he welcomes challenges and executes solutions; and he recognizes that how we deliver services to the consumer is as important as what services we deliver. For that and his many achievements, we are proud to honor him this year with the Star of Integrity Award."
