Addiction Recovery Network: After Charges Dropped Against John Haines & Addiction Canada
TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2017 /CNW/ - John Haines of Addiction Canada Inc., a chain of private addiction treatment centers in Canada, including Alberta and Ontario, fought and won to have past charges dropped and clear his good name, while his son Dylan Maggiacomo carried on with running Addiction Recovery Network.
Addiction Canada Inc., a chain of private addiction treatment centers in Canada including Alberta and Ontario, presently won its three-year battle by having serious, unfounded criminal charges against its owner, John Haines, dropped. Haines was facing allegations of 6.1 million dollar fraud, money laundering, possession of proceeds, trafficking in narcotics, and others. Haines cleared his and the Addiction Canada name by having all charges droppedNovember 3, 2017. During this time, John Haines' son Dylan Maggiacomo was running three facilities in Canada with his Canadian Addiction corporation, Addiction Recovery Network.
Amidst all of this, John Haines and Addiction Canada looked to the dedication and passion in the addiction field to continue with his stepson Dylan Maggiacomo's corporation, Canadian Addiction Recovery Network, founded in 2010. Haines started Addiction Canada and Vita Novus in 2005, when the private sector of addiction treatment was in its infancy. At the time, Haines embarked across Canada raising awareness to the fact that average Canadians did not have access to life-saving addiction services through government agencies. Haines says,"the general public have always seemed to scrutinize anything private, when the services, they feel, should be covered by the federal and provincial health care coverage."
According to reports and subsequent claims, the opioid epidemic, along with other addictions has become a national emergency. During the last three years, Dylan Maggiacomo, director of the Addiction Recovery Network, has claimed to be more busy with the influx of opioid cases than ever before. Maggiacomo claims that, "with our all mental health, one-on-one programs using only therapists, we have managed to raise success rates to the highest in the country." He goes on to say, "in spite of my stepfather's fight, John has been very busy performing interventions across Canada, as many families have become alarmed for their loved ones, considering the scale of this national epidemic."
Prior to the investigation and subsequent charges, Addiction Canada was Canada's largest private rehab organization, using treatment methods and programs designed and created by Haines. "We had one of the best recovery rates in the country," said Mr. Haines. "My biggest regret was hearing the stories from individuals who went somewhere else for treatment because of what they heard in the news about me and Addiction Canada. It truly broke my heart to hear about their experiences at the other facilities they ended up going to, and I really wish we had had the opportunity to help them personally." Haines, however, did say, "I am very proud of the way Dylan stepped up and took over to better serve all Canadians in need of Addiction Treatment. The Canadian Addiction Recovery Network is the very best now, and saves many lives."
Time will tell which direction Haines decides to take, but one thing is certain: he won and was proven right. This seems to be just the beginning for Haines, and his desire to serve and take the fight against addiction to new levels has been re-fueled and re-energized. Haines has once again joined up with son Dylan Maggiacomo and Addiction Recovery Network to do what he loves best: save lives.
