ADC Solution Powers World’s Largest In-Building Wireless Deployment for STC, Saudi Arabia’s Leading Mobile Provider

ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT) (www.adc.com) today announced that its InterReach Fusion® distributed antenna systems (DAS) are being deployed at the King Abdul Aziz Endowment in Mecca to deliver strong and consistent mobile service throughout the multi-building, 1.5 million-square-metre complex. ADC’s products were selected for what is believed to be the largest in-building deployment in the world by Saudi Telecom, Saudi Arabia’s leading mobile provider.

"We selected ADC’s systems from among all others because of their ability to deliver superior signal quality throughout this enormous complex,” said Abdul Malik Al-Murshed, network implementation general manager for Saudi Telecom.” As the facility will house as many as 65,000 pilgrims to the annual Hajj, including members of the Royal Family, we wanted to ensure that everyone could receive outstanding mobile voice and data coverage from anywhere within the structure.”

The installation will deliver HSDPA and HSUPA voice and data services to the seven towers by March 2010. ADC and its partner SNS-Batco Telecom, who is the kingdom’s leading telecom systems integrator, will turn up additional service throughout the year. Ultimately, the entire property will be supported, including a 5-star hotel, several restaurants, a shopping center, convention center and six residential towers.

ADC’s in-building DAS solution was chosen for the King Abdul Aziz Endowment complex because its unique active architecture delivers strong and consistent signal performance in structures of any size, and offers a low-profile and seamless compatibility with fiber-equipped buildings. Using fiber-fed, managed hubs as well as active remote antenna units (RAUs), the InterReach Fusion DAS will deliver equal signal strength at each antenna at every location in the complex no matter how distant it may be from the signal source.

In addition, InterReach Fusion will enable the delivery of 3.75G services that demand bandwidth which cannot be achieved adequately by direct modulated or coax-based systems. Furthermore, the ADC system is scalable to support more mobile services and locations within the complex as needed.

"ADC’s InterReach DAS products are the number-one choice for large structures like the King Abdul Aziz Endowment because they deliver consistently high performance throughout the entire property,” said John Spindler, vice president of product management for ADC. "That’s why our solutions have been chosen for many other large structures like the Jamarat Bridge in Mecca, the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai, and the City of Dreams complex in Macao.”
