ACE Westchester Expands Market for Hazmat Transportation Risks; Appoints Roger Murphy to Direct Efforts in Philadelphia Office

ACE Westchester, the U.S.-based wholesale-focused property and casualty operation of the ACE Group, today introduced a new product line, providing coverage and services for hazardous material (hazmat) and hazardous waste transporters. Underwriting will be based in Philadelphia and Roger Murphy, Assistant Vice President, has been appointed to lead these efforts, reporting to Barbara Deas, Senior Vice President, ACE Westchester Environmental.

With more than 19 years of insurance industry experience, Mr. Murphy joins ACE Westchester from XL Insurance, where he most recently served in its environmental underwriting unit as Assistant Vice President, responsible for the profitable underwriting of bulk hazardous materials haulers. Prior to that, Mr. Murphy served in underwriting management positions with a specialized focus on the general truck industry with MRM, Ltd., a Bermuda-based company, and concentrated on special transportation risks during his tenure at Liberty Mutual. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration and Management from West Chester University located in Pennsylvania. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) professional designation.

Coverages for the Hazmat Transportations Risks include the following:*

  • Capacity up to $5,000,000 Combined Single Limit
  • MCS-90, Broadened Pollution Liability, Wrong Delivery of Liquid Products
  • Garage Liability, Physical Damage and other coverage extensions available as needed
  • Variety of Deductible Options
  • Hazmat support products, including General Liability, Premises Pollution Liability, Motor Cargo and/or Contractors Pollution Liability
