Xinhua Corrects China FinMin Remarks On Growth
(RTTNews) - China's official news agency Xinhua has corrected its report on comments made by China's Finance Minister Lou Jiwei on July 12 in Washington on the economy's expected growth rate this year.
Xinhua's earlier report had cited Lou as saying that the economy may grow at a rate of 7 percent this year.
According to the corrected version, Lou said "there is no doubt that China can achieve this year's growth target of 7.5 percent".
In Friday's report, he was quoted as saying that the 7 percent forecast should not be considered as the bottom line.
The clarification is seen as an attempt to ease market concerns over further slowdown in growth in the world's second largest economy.
