TIM BRAZIL: Net Profit Rises 53% In The 2Q18, To R$ 335 Million

(RTTNews) - TIM Brazil's net profit grew 53% in the second quarter from a year before, to R$ 335 million. Net revenue rose 5.8% in the same comparison and totaled R$ 4.2 billion.

Revenue from mobile services increased 5.7%, to R$ 3.8 billion. Landlines service revenue climbed 5.6%, to R$ 206 million, while revenue from other products increased 7.8%, to R$ 207 million.

TIM's EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) grew 12.7% in the second quarter from a year before, to R$ 1,6 billion. The EBITDA margin rose 230 basis points, to 37.5%.

The normalized EBITDA, which excludes non recurring events from the results, grew 12.7% in the second quarter from a year before, to R$ 1,6 billion. The EBITDA margin rose 230 basis points, to 37.6%.

The customer base of the mobile service decreased 7%, to 56.55 million. The number of customers with prepaid service packages fell 16.7%, to 37.48 million, while the number of clients with postpaid plans increased 20.5%, to 19.08 million.

The churn rate fell 40 basis points, to 12.5%. Average revenue per user (ARPU) in the mobile segment increased 12.9%, to R$ 21.90. The prepaid segment ARPU was unchanged at R$ 11.2. while the postpaid segment ARPU rose 1.8%, to R$ 40.

The customer base of TIM Live, the company's broadband internet service, increased 21.6%, to 423.000, while the ARPU rose 12.7%, to R$ 72.1.
