Slovakia CPI Continues To Fall In January

(RTTNews) - Slovakia's consumer prices continued to decline at the start of the year, figures from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic showed Monday.

The consumer price index fell 0.6 percent year-over-year in January, following a 0.5 percent drop in December. The measure has been falling since December 2014.

Core consumer prices edged down 0.1 percent annually in January, while it rose 0.3 percent from the preceding month.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages slid 2.3 percent and transport costs dipped by 4.3 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.2 percent in January, after a 0.3 percent fall in December. It was the second consecutive monthly decrease.
