Poland November Inflation Drops Unexpectedly
(RTTNews) - Poland's annual inflation weakened in November, contrary to economists' forecast for an increase, latest data showed Friday.
The consumer price index rose 0.6 percent annually in November, after growing 0.8 percent in October. The index was forecast to rise 0.9 percent.
Inflation was influenced by a 1.7 percent gain in food and non-alcoholic beverages prices, and a 1.8 percent rise in housing costs. Meanwhile, clothing and footwear prices decreased 4.9 percent, and transportation costs slid 2.3 percent.
The consumer price index decreased 0.2 percent compared to October, when it recorded a 0.2 percent increase. Expectations were for a 0.1 percent gain.
Elsewhere, a communique from the National Bank of Poland today showed that the current account deficit narrowed to EUR466 million in October from EUR1.02 billion a month earlier. Economists were looking for a shortfall of EUR448 million for October.
