New Zealand Food Prices Climb 1.3% In January
(RTTNews) - Food prices in New Zealand jumped 1.3 percent on month in January, Statistics New Zeal and said on Friday.
That follows the 0.3 percent gain in December and the 0.5 percent decline in November.
Grocery food prices rose 0.6 percent, with higher prices for confectionery, nuts, and snacks (up 2.3 percent) reflecting less discounting on chocolate. Lower prices for yogurt partly countered this rise.
On a yearly basis, food prices added 1.2 percent after rising 1.0 percent in the previous month and 0.6 percent in November.
