Mauritius September Inflation Unchanged At 3.5%
(RTTNews) - Mauritius' consumer price inflation stayed unchanged in September from the previous month, latest figures from Statistics Mauritius showed Monday.
The headline inflation, as per the consumer price index, for the twelve months ended September came in at 3.5 percent, which was unchanged from the August figure.
The year-on-year inflation rate for the month of September, which is used by policymakers to determine monetary policy, accelerated modestly to 3.3 percent from 3.1 percent in August.
Compared to August, the consumer price index edged up 0.2 percent. The monthly change in prices was influenced by a 0.5 percent gain in costs of food and non-alcoholic beverages, a similar increase in prices of furnishings and household equipment, and a 0.4 percent rise in prices in restaurants and hotels.
Clothing and footwear prices increased 0.6 percent sequentially during the month. On the other hand, transportation costs decreased by 0.6 percent, data showed.
