Korea Consumer Confidence Index Falls To 99.0 In June

(RTTNews) - Consumer confidence in South Korea tumbled in June, the latest sentiment survey from the Bank of Korea showed on Thursday, with an index score of 99.0.

That's down sharply from 105.0 in May - largely due to the local outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, analysts believe.

Consumer sentiment on current living standards was lower by three points than in May at 90, and that for their future outlook six points lower at 96.

Consumer sentiment regarding current domestic economic conditions was 14 points less than in May at 65, and that for their future outlook 12 points less at 79.

Consumer sentiment on prospective changes in household income was 98, three points down month-on-month, while that on expected spending was two points lower than in May at 105.

The expectation for inflation over the following year was 2.5 percent.
