Japan GDP On Tap For Monday

(RTTNews) - Japan will on Monday release preliminary gross domestic product figures for the fourth quarter of 2013, highlighting a busy day in Asia-Pacific economic activity.

GDP is expected to expand 0.7 percent on quarter and 2.8 percent on year after adding 0.3 percent on quarter and 1.1 percent on year in the third quarter.

Japan also will see final December numbers for industrial production; little change is expected from the preliminary readings that suggested an increase of 1.1 percent on month and 7.3 percent on year.

Australia will provide January data for new motor vehicle sales; in December, sales were up 1.7 percent on month and 0.1 percent on year.

Thailand will release gross domestic product numbers for the fourth quarter of 2013. In Q3, GDP was up 1.3 percent on quarter and 2.7 percent on year.

Singapore will see January figures for imports, exports and trade balance. In December, imports were worth SGD37.68 billion and exports were at SGD41.91 billion for a trade surplus of SGD4.23 billion.
