Hong Kong Jobless Rate Steady At 3.1%

(RTTNews) - Hong Kong's unemployment rate remained stable in the September to November period, labor force statistics from the Census and Statistics Department showed on Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate came in at 3.1 percent in the September-November period, the same as in the August to October period.

The data showed that the underemployment rate also held steady at 1.1 percent.

Without adjustment, the unemployment rate dropped to 3.1 percent from 3.2 percent.

The number of unemployed persons was 119,700, compared to 120,700 in the August-October period.

"The labor market should remain largely stable in the near term, though the situation in some sectors might be more affected by increased uncertainties in the global economy and escalation in trade tension," Chris Sun, the secretary for labor and welfare, said.
