BRAZIL: Trade Surplus Falls 11.8% In April To US$ 6.142 Billion
(RTTNews) - The Brazilian trade surplus fell 11.8% in April from a year before, to US$ 6.142 billion as imports rose faster than exports, according to official data. Compared to March, the trade surplus decreased by 2.2%.
Brazilian export revenue in April totaled US$ 19.932 billion, rising 12.7% from the same month in 2017. Imports, however, grew 28.7% on annual terms, to US$ 13.790 billion. On a monthly basis, exports fell 0.8%, while imports were down 0.1%.
So far in 2018, the Brazilian trade surplus is 6.0% smaller than in the same period in 2017, at US$ 20.090 billion. Exports are 7.7% higher, at US$ 74.299 billion, while imports are up 14.5%, at US$ 54.209 billion.
