ARGENTINA: Monthly Inflation Slows In October But Exceeds Estimates
(RTTNews) - Argentina's monthly inflation decelerated to 1.5% in October from 1.9% in September, said the country's statistics office. The reading was above the market expectations, which predicted a monthly inflation of 1.3%.
Year-to-date, the Argentinean CPI accumulates a 19.4% rise. The Argentinean central bank no longer pursues the 2017 annual inflation target of 17% and is focusing instead on the goal for 2018 - inflation ranging from 8% to 12%.
The main reasons for October's inflation rate were communication, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, clothing and footwear, and food and non-alcoholic beverages.
