ARGENTINA: Country Wants To Purchase More Natural Gas From Bolivia
(RTTNews) - Argentina wants to increase the volume of natural gas purchased from Bolivia, said the Argentinean Energy and Mining Minister Juan Jos? Aranguren to his Bolivian counterpart, Luis Alberto S?nchez.
"Bolivian natural gas is competitive compared to liquefied natural gas, and the more Bolivia can dispose of it, the more we will receive it, as long as we can transport" the fuel, said Aranguren, according to a statement by Bolivia's Ministry of Hydrocarbons.
He added that the oil and gas operation in the Vaca Muerta field, in Argentina, would not hamper the country's appetite for Bolivian gas imports. The Bolivian gas has the Argentinean market supplied until 2026, said the Bolivian Ministry's statement.
Bolivia produces 600,000 tons of liquefied gas per year and sells 70% of that to the domestic market. The remaining 30% is directed to exports.
