SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 2005--Millennium Cell Inc. (NASDAQ: MCEL), a leading developer of hydrogen energy systems, today announced that it will demonstrate a next generation product prototype to power a notebook PC at the Intel Developer Forum from March 1st through March 3rd at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco. Millennium Cell's technology will be on display in the Intel Pavilion at Intel's booth #17.
Improving upon the previous system demonstrated at the Intel Developer Forum last fall, this system combines Millennium Cell's portable hydrogen fuel source technology with a PEM fuel cell to power an IBM X40 ThinkPad notebook PC. The fuel supply is contained in a sealed, single use cartridge similar in size and shape to a traditional battery pack, and the flat-panel passive (high efficiency) fuel cell affixes to the back of the PC's screen.
This demonstration illustrates the next step in the Company's application of its technology to power consumer electronic devices without any loss of portability or functionality. The latest system includes a thin fuel cell that has appropriate dimensions to fit in the laptop and improved performance specifications from the previous version. With the advent of this latest product prototype, the Company remains on track to develop a power source which can meet the goal of all day wireless computing.
"Once again, we are excited to be present at the forum, and we are particularly pleased to have our system in the Intel pavilion of the Intel Developer Forum technical showcase," said H. David Ramm, Millennium Cell President and CEO. "At the forum, we have an opportunity to show that our technology works and is appropriately sized for laptop use. As important, we gain further insight into the required performance specifications first hand from device manufacturers. Another objective of our attendance is to explore ways to collaborate with laptop OEM's to achieve the collective vision of all day wireless computing."
Kamal Shah, Mobility Enabling Initiative Manager, Mobile Platforms Group, Intel Corporation and Chairman, Mobile PC Extended Battery Life (EBL) Working Group, commented, "Millennium Cell's demonstration of this next generation fuel cell prototype shows tangible progress toward the Extended Battery Life Working Group's primary objective of the realization of all-day battery life for mobile PCs."
