TransCanada Corporation -- Moody's: TransCanada's Energy East does not impact ratings

New York, August 01, 2013 -- Moody's Investors Service said that TransCanada PipeLines Limited's (TransCanada, A3 stable) announcement today that it will proceed with the CAD12 billion Energy East Pipeline project has no immediate impact on the company's ratings. Moody's notes that this project could deepen and prolong a previously expected funding gap over the next several years. Moody's believes, however, that TransCanada will finance this and its other projects with a balanced mix of both debt and equity so that its ratings will not be affected.
