Moody's: Financial contingencies will temper credit benefits of easing US-Cuba relations

New York, April 09, 2015 -- Progress on restoring relations between the US and Cuba continues, but persistent and substantial financial impediments will temper any upward pressure on the Government of Cuba's rating, according to a new report from Moody's Investors Service. Among the impediments are the nearly 6,000 claims against Cuba stemming from the expropriation of American-owned Cuban property following the Cuban revolution in January 1959.
